Kirsten and I on Little Eden Cay

Kirsten and I on Little Eden Cay

[13/52]

Kirsten and I on Little Eden Cay - one of the 18 islands that make up the Pearl Cays, a group of tropical islands east of Nicaragua.

Once upon a time, this was an elaborate and ornate home to a New Zealand couple and their children. They hadn't spared any expenses in furnishing the home or the grounds, like importing rare antiques from Italy, and had started renting the island to private groups for $18,000/week. We found a video on youtube: www.youtube.com/watch?v=oky7TC9UrNk

The story goes that they quickly became unhappy with the desolation and rough lifestyle and listed the island, home and everything on it for sale. Unfortunately for them, before the island could sell, a hurricane swept through the area, and what you see above is all that is left of the home.

When I heard about this place I knew we had to do a wedding portrait on it - luck was with us and we made it out to the Pearl Cays on one of our last days in Nicaragua and got to create this! I can pretty confidently say that this is a pretty unique wedding photo and not too many other people will ever have one like it!
