Bill MacKay has added a photo to the pool:
It is my pleasure to introduce you to Lindsay. There are a lot of things different about Lindsay"s portrait, which make it different from my other stranger portraits, beginning with our conversation and ending with the technical aspects of taking the photo.
I had less than a minute to speak with Lindsay about the Portraits of Strangers project. She was single handedly looking after the fairly busy Holiday Inn restaurant where my wife and I stayed on our vacation. My description of Lindsay therefore comes mostly from my observation rather than our conversation. She must be efficient as everyone appeared to be getting what they wanted. In spite of being very busy she found time to stop by my table three or four times, always with a smile, to make sure my meal was ok. When I told her about my project she willingly agreed to participate. My observation therefore is that Lindsay has a very cheerful outgoing personality and she takes time, even when busy, to relate to her customers. I hope you find your portrait Lindsay and thank you for helping me with my photography project. If you can, please leave a comment.
The next challenge in taking Lindsay's portrait was that I did not have my camera with me. I did, however, have my iPad, with which I am very impressed having just upgraded from the original one to the latest model. I only had time to take one quick shot and show it to Lindsay for her approval. I uploaded one shot with Instagram and e-mailed a copy to my iMac to check it in Aperture before uploading it to Flickr. Although the iPad and Instagram can produce some very nice photographs I found the image a bit grainy and was not able to improve it in Aperture as much as if it had been a Nikon raw file. Some of this may have been due to the relatively low light in the restaurant and because I have just started using the iPad camera. Whatever the case I believe I captured Lindsay's great smile and personality, even though I would have liked a better image quality and beter focus on Lindsay's eyes.
This picture is the 38th portrait in my efforts to complete the required 100 portraits for the portraits of strangers project to help improve my photography skills.
