One of the pre-race favourites, Brimin Kipruto (Kenya) followed by Arturo Casado (Spain) and Kenenisa Bekele (Ethiopia) competing in the 3K Invitational event at the Bupa Great Edinburgh Cross Country International Challenge 2012. Kipruto is the reigning Olympic 3,000m steeplechase champion (Beijing), and Bekele is the reigning Olympic 5,000m and 10,000m champion, although both finished well down the field here.
