Elle me confia un secret

Elle me confia un secret

What a gorgeous day it was today!

I went to the Bristol Renaissance Faire in Bristol Wisconsin.

It's a people watchers paradise!

It was pretty hot out there and the bright light under a completely cloudless sky was a little hard to work with but we had a great time and I've got some good shots.

It's been a killer weekend so far... life is good... things are smoothening out nicely... I'm enjoying the peace... my heart is filled more with love and light each day... some amazing opportunities have come at me...

I hope you're havin' a good one too... I hope you're feelin' the good feelin's... I hope you're enjoyin' it all.

It's funny... I've been out shootin' all day... I just got home and sat down... my new 8GB card is gettin' unloaded as I write this and I just thought 'man... I'd like to go out and shoot some street tonight... where should I go... who could I pop?'

I've also been thinkin' about a new Nikon D3.

I'd hafta make the switch from my beloved 35mm 1.8 to a 50mm 1.8 to equalize the apparent 'focal length' with the full frame sensor...

But the way that camera feels in my hands... and it's low light capabilities...

I've shot more than a million frames on my D300... got into a couple of scuffles with it... thought we were both gonna end up on the bottom of the Bering Sea... been all around the block with that one... I couldn't give it up...

We've been through so much together.

But it's the 35mm 1.8 that I'm having a hard time considering replacing... I love that lens... I mean I really love it... it's the only lens I use... hell... it's the only lens I have now...

It's the only lens I need.

I was out street shooting with Tommy6uns one night in Chicago... I was poppin 'Friendly Freddy' on the corner... a car pulled up to the line at the intersection when the light was red... the guy drivin' leans out and yells 'hey... is that a 35mm 1.8' and I said yeah... he pointed right at me and yelled 'Viewminder' and drove off.

That was the first time I got recognized shooting on the street... and it's funny that the guy brought up the lens.

The 35mm 1.8 means everything to me... it's the way that I see the world... it's really the way that I see faces and people and souls... my mind... my vision and that lens' capabilities are all so perfectly intertwined sometimes... when I'm in that 'zone' and the shots are flying and the faces are close... when the light is low and things are moving fast...

My love for that $189 35mm 1.8 is what's keepin' me from havin' a Nikon D3 in my hands right now.
